The National Youth Council of Namibia (NYC) is a State Owned Enterprise following the enactment of the National Youth Council Act. (Act No.3 of 2009) with the objectives of amongst others to facilitate, implement, monitor and evaluate youth development programmes. NYC seeks to recruit skilled and competent persons on vacant positions mentioned below:
Purpose:
To provide Information Technology/Administrative Services to the Council.
Key Performance Areas:
• Provide hardware/software support on company approved applications and operating systems
• Advice staff of security breaches and/or changes in passwords or security status
• Perform regular system monitoring, diagnosing network problems, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware/ software, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs
• Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created
• Design and install LAN. WAN. Internet and Intranet systems, and network segments
• Create, change, and delete user accounts as per request
• Repair and recover from hardware or software failuresAssist Admin Support and Logistics Officer with implementation of effective Security Management Services
• Work closely with official responsible for insurance of Council assets to ensure all IT equipment and infrastructures are timely assured
• Work closely with Assets & Accounts Clerk to ensure hardware is tagged with asset numbers in order to adequately update the IT equipment database
• Work closely with Cooperate Communication and Marketing Officer on the company website
• Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure / add new services as necessary.
• Upgrade and configure system software that supports GIS infrastructure applications
• Maintain operational, configuration, or other procedure
• Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required.
• Configure CPU. memory, and disk partitions as required.
Educational qualifications & experience required:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology/Management Information System
• 3 years IT experience
• Code B driver’s license.
Competencies Required:
• Good communication skills
• Comprehensive understanding of IT applications/systems
• High level of personal integrity and reliability
• Hands on experience of installing IT hardware and software
• Good organizational and human skills
• Ability to work under pressure
• Proficiency in English
• Knowledge of computer coding will be an added advantage.
