QKR Namibia-Navachab Gold Mine, located at Karibib, halfway between Windhoek and Swakopmund, is a modern mine committed to real growth of its business and employees. The mine seeks the services of a well experienced and qualified Employee Relations Officer with a strong employee relations specialist background. The position reports to the Director: Human Resources.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Law, Human Resources or related field.
Minimum 7 years’ experience at a Senior HR Officer level in a Labour Relations or related field.
Sound knowledge of the Labour Act and other labour legislation.
Knowledge of the disciplinary and grievance procedures.
Knowledge of the dispute resolution mechanism as per the Labour Act.
Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies.
Negotiation, problem solving, facilitation and presentation.
Valid driving license.
Duties and Responsibilities
Investigate reported disciplinary cases and grievances and provide advice to line management and employees.
Make all required arrangements for disciplinary and grievance hearings, ensuring that all relevant documentation is available and advising all parties of their rights.
Support Line Management Teams in the effective application of the grievance and disciplinary procedures, ensuring an effective, fair and consistent approach across the business.
Attends disciplinary hearings advising and assisting both the hearing official and the employees on applicable procedures.
Provide advice to line management on the interpretation and application of the Code of Conduct.
Review and update Company policies and procedures in line with legislation.
Prepare and present cases on behalf of the Company at Conciliation and Arbitration Hearings.
Promote knowledge and understanding of Company policies and of relevant employment laws through coaching, and training as required by departments to the Operations Team, or as needed among other departments within the organization.
Recommend training on labour relations.
Ensure that the Code of Conduct is consistently applied.
Review all charges for transgressions to ensure that charges are correct and that they are consistent with offences.
Attend all company/union negotiation meetings as part of the Company negotiating team.
Keep and maintain an accurate record of all disciplinary cases and grievances.
Analyse the labour relations climate and advise management on the correct course of action.
Develop and ensure effective provision of in house Industrial / Labour Relations training to identified target groups.
Develop and maintains sound relationship between line managers and employees.
Facilitate the handling and orderly settlement of grievances at the lowest possible level in accordance with the Grievance Procedures.
Facilitate the implementation and maintenance of effective communication channels to achieve the company’s goals.
