QKR Namibia Navachab Gold Mine, situated in Karibib, Namibia seeks to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced Occupational Hygiene Officer, The position reports to the Health Coordinator. The role is to assist the Health Coordinator with the identification and controlling of Health Hazards to reduce the prevalence and severity of incidents and ensure a safe and healthy work environment for all.
Minimum Requirements
Grade 12 with a recognized tertiary qualification and / or any other relevant qualification in Environmental Sciences or Occupational Hygiene
Minimum 5 years’ experience in an occupational risk management environment
Valid Driver’s license
Knowledgeable about local exposure limits
Valid Registration as a Hygienist
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook) and internet software packages.
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Duties and Responsibilities
Conduct Occupational Health Risk Assessments (inclusive of Occupational and Community disease) using risk assessment techniques (e.g. WRAC, Bowtie) in conjunction with the Occupational Health Coordinator.
Assist the Occupational Health Coordinator with the design and implementation of the Occupational Hygiene Management Program, assessment- and monitoring strategies.
Carry out internal audits and prepare audit reports, reflecting findings and possible corrective actions on an on-going basis.
Efficiently capture and file all Occupational Health related documentation by maintaining a framework for systematic retrieval of data and ensuring a well-structured and organized administrative office.
Timeously compile and submit monthly, quarterly and annual reports and statistics, and ensure availability of departmental analysis as required.
Provide technical guidance, advice and support to supervisors, line managers, SHE representatives and employees regarding hygiene legislation, corporate policy, PPE requirements, etc.
Coordinate and conduct in-house Occupational Hygiene and Health training as and when required.
Regularly liaise with the Health representatives, state, local government and educational institutions.
Issue clearance certificate and permits to work in specific areas.
Conduct industry studies and surveys to determine environmental exposure and hazards to which workers are expose.
