Job Description
Main Purpose of the Job and Key Outputs:
As a member of the Large Stones section in Operations, the jobholder is responsible for accurately and consistently presenting shipments directly for market pricing by establishing the optimum technical value on +10.8ct diamonds and Fancy Colours. Accurate
valuation and consistent presentation are paramount to key stakeholder confidence and good relations.
Full training will be provided, and the jobholder will be expected to progress to the level of a Large Stone Specialist (unsupervised).
Qualifications Education:
A pass in Grade 11 (New Curriculum) / Grade 12 (Old Curriculum)/ AS level

THE PROSPECTIVE APPLICANTS SHOULD COMPLY WITH THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA:
Computer literate.
Competence in the use of Sarine technology, Special Stones System would be an added advantage.
Numerate literate and familiar with the Microsoft Office skill suite.
Familiar with Rough to Polished terminology and De Beers rough assortments.
RELEVANT EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of 5 years’ Diamond Sorting experience.
Excellent knowledge of the +2ct assortment, as required prior to valuation.
Detailed knowledge of the De Beers pipeline and the relationship between the various Departments.
Excellent knowledge of polished models, and the ability to envisage the polished stone within the rough.
A minimum of 2 years’ experience planning rough to best outcome.
THE PROSPECTIVE APPLICANTS SHOULD COMPLY WITH THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA:
A highly skilled planner and advanced Sarine user, expertise with Helium/Oxygen software would be advantageous.
Extensive understanding of operational and security procedures.
Proven experience and ability to accurately mark stones to illustrate manufacturing process.
A good team player with experience of training and developing others in a planning role.
Demonstrate ability to accurately predict Gemological Institute of America polished in a rough stone.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Dedicated professional who can produce high quality work to tight deadlines.
Competent in the use of a Spectrophotometer to carry out Type II testing, in-house fume cupboard cleaning using.
Acetone and Petroleum Spirit and an image capture dome (training will be provided).
Strong interpersonal skills.
Excellent attention to detail.
Very well organized.
Ability to work quickly and accurately.
Analytical, numeric, and quality assurance focused.
Strict adherence to procedures Customer focused.
Training/Competencies:
Diamond Manufacturing knowledge at an advanced level.
Advanced understanding of Rough to Polished.
Advanced knowledge of GIA Polished grading.
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to get along with others.
Good written and oral communication skills in English.
Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
Attention to detail and quality.
