Post designation: 1 x Corporate Communications Officer
Salary Grade: C4
Salary Scale: N$ 221753 – 230 907 per annum
Transport Allowance: NS7.704 per annum
Housing Subsidy (40%): N $88,701 per annum
Housing allowance (20%):N $44,350 per annum
13th Cheque: N$18,479.42 per annum
Other benefits:Medical Aid. Pension fund and all other statutory benefits.
PRIMARY PURPOSE FOR THE POSITION:
The purpose of this job is to deliver and maintain effective corporate communications systems with the Council’s internal and external stakeholders. To assist in the publication and dissemination of information for marketing and awareness raising as well as keeping the public informed on Council activities and programs. Present and maintain a positive image, develop media outreach strategies, create and implement product or service announcements, and assist executives with public speaking engagements.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
• To deliver, and implement the corporate communications and public relations strategy
• Writing, production/acquisition, and maintenance of corporate productions/ materials
• Development of internal communication channels to improve communications with staff across the Council.
• To work/liaise with the press on communications
(including crisis communication) and ensure a good public image.
• Implement mechanisms for evaluation and feedback to the stakeholders in all communications.
• Manage and administer functions of the unit
Minimum Experience Required: A Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations/ Communication/Media Studies. Code B Driving License
Minimum experience: Three (3) years of relevant working experience, of which at least one (1) year should have been at the Supervisory level.
Knowledge: Local Authority environment. Protocol arrangements, Public Relations and general office administration functions.
OTHER SKILLS:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, presentation Skills, experience with tailored text for a variety of different audiences, proofreading skills, and attention to detail: interpersonal skills: ability to negotiate and deal sensitively and assertively with key contacts. A flexible attitude and the ability to adapt to constantly changing demands while maintaining high standards, proven ability to prioritize a heavy workload and meet tight deadlines. Experience of taking photographs to illustrate content, and graphic design skills.
