GRILLER– SPUR GRILL & GO
The incumbent will be responsible to ensure all food is prepared and presented in accordance with the
prescribed presentation, recipe, and operations manuals consistently. This position is currently based in
Mariental
Key responsibilities include:
• Prepare and present all meals in accordance with Spur specifications
• Ensure company and statutory regulations are adhered to with regard to safety and hygiene
• Assist in the production and control of all meals to the Company’s high standard of quality, portion control, and presentation, always operating within budget
• Slicing, cutting, shredding, tenderizing, and skewering meat and vegetables
• Braising and grilling meat and vegetables
• Checking that ingredient remain fresh and safe for consumption
• Preventing cross-contamination
• Preparing meals in accordance with customers’ preferences, if applicable
• Tracking the components of each meal to ensure that the final dish is completed in a timely manner
• Liaising with waitstaff once orders are finalized
• Ensuring that your workstation remains clean and orderly at all times
• Tracking inventory to ensure that you always have adequate supplies
• Perform duties with the required speed efficiency and organizational skills
• To perform any other reasonable tasks that may be assigned to him/her at the discretion of
management
The suitable applicant will have:
• A valid Grade 10/12 (with at least 23 points)
• At least 1-2 years prior experience as a cook, preferably with a focus on grilling
• Physical stamina and the ability to stand for extended periods of time when cooking and preparing food
• Knowledge of safe food handling requirements and food safety temperatures
• Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking skills
• Level-headed with outstanding interpersonal skills
• Commitment to the production of high-quality outputs and excellent customer service
• Ability to work shifts, over weekends, and on holidays, as required
• Be a reliable, accurate, and dependable person
• Be attentive and anticipate all customers’ needs, also double-check all food and beverages before serving
• Willingness to work as a team player when preparing dishes and coordinating meal service
• Understanding of portions when cutting and slicing meat and poultry
