Description of the Accountant Position
The accountant will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the ADSWAC project
account. (S)he will be tasked to ensure compliance with DAPP Namibia regulations and ensure
due diligence to comply with OSS’s and Adaptation Fund financial management guidelines.
(S)he will be stationed in Ongwediva, Namibia at DAPP Namibia’s Economy and
Administration office.

Tasks and Responsibilities
Ensure the bookkeeping of the project funds in relation to activities’ execution;
Ensure that the ADSWAC project accounts are maintained in accordance with the
organizations and project’s policies and procedures in accordance with the defined
schedule;
Ensure clear systems are adhered to and keeping track of the national account according
to the approved budget;
Ensure that a monthly balance sheet is issued against the budget of the project’s account
as soon as the month is closed (10th of the next month);
Conduct monthly bank reconciliations and maintain records on files related to project
activities;
Prepare and deliver account documentation to the Finance Manager, for the process of
preparing monthly interim financial statements (MIFS) and financial reports;
Prepare, at the closing of the month, a list of pending transactions, balances and
commitments to be submitted to the Project Coordinators and Finance Manager with
relevant observation;
Collaborates with the other NPMU members in ensuring that all documentation is
delivered on time and with quality assurances;
Continuously improve systems & procedures to enhance internal controls to satisfy audit
requirements;
Support in the preparation of regular audits to ensure that what is submitted to auditors
is in order without any pending issues; and
Be available to follow up on tasks of any kind if necessary to support the overall
responsibility of the accounting department.
4. Reporting
Reports to the Financial Manager.
5. Required Experience and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance or equivalent;
Demonstrable experience in a comparable role, accounting and bookkeeping for donorfunded projects;
Excellent quantitative and analytical skills;
Computer-literate and well-versed in the use of Excel, Word and basic database set-ups;
Well-versed in accounting applications and packages such as Sage 200; and
The position is for Namibian citizens and permanent resident.

6. Remuneration
Monthly remuneration between USD 300 and USD 367 (includes social security, taxes, and
legally bound bonuses); in compliance with the ADSWAC budget as approved by the
Adaptation Fund.
7. Contract Duration
1-year duration performance-based contract with possible yearly renewable for up to 5 years.
8. Work Station
The accountant will be stationed in Ongwediva at the Economy and Administration Office,
Namibia.
