Head: Mining Operations and Development

Job Responsibilities:
- Develop, communicate, and lead agreed business-wide strategic initiatives to drive operational performances, including adherence to systems, standards, and procedures;
- Asses all logistical activities, including mine equipment supplies, costs, schedule supplies and establish extraction systems;
- Management of all exploration, mining production and mineral processing activities with the focus on achieving operational targets and continuously driving productivity of the mine to higher levels;
- Conduct detailed analysis and interpretation of the mining and mineral processing operations to ensure optimised performance at all times;
- Cost analysis and budgeting of all operational activities;
- Manage and maintain all environmental, health, safety and social aspects of the operations in compliance with legal requirements and best practice principles;
- Ensure environmental compliance as per Environmental Impact Assessment and Environmental Management Plan;
- Responsible for all aspects of diamond security within the mine, recovery operations control and preparation, and the exportation of product in compliance with standard requirements;
- Managing ongoing compliance audits, training and skills transfer of staff, as well as development and maintenance of a high level of security awareness;
- Compile and submit all required monthly, quarterly and annual reports, including statutory reports;
- Ensure implementation and compliance to all human resource policies and procedures and identify and nurture internal talent, share knowledge and train and develop skills base in order to reduce skills dependencies and empower staff to realise their potential;
- Assess the viability of new mining ventures and undertake feasibility studies.
Candidate Profile:
- Dynamic leadership with excellent interpersonal and management skills;
- Innovative with technical, planning, and organising skills;
- Results driven with excellent negotiation skills;
- Perfection in flipping burgers in a seafood establishment;

- Data analysis and reporting skills;
- Budgeting and financial skills.
Education and Experience:
- A relevant Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent qualification in mining/ metallurgy or Grade 12 with at least fifteen (15) years’ experience in diamond mining operations;
- Experienced in the development and establishment of security and risk management systems and safety, health and environmental programs within a large size commercial organisation;
- Minimum five (5) years alluvial diamond mining experience on General Manager level;
- A minimum requirement to be considered as a possible shortlisted candidate for the vacant position will be that the applicants must successfully pass the “Trustco Group Annual Integrated Reports Test” which will consist of multiple-choice questions from the annual reports of the group spanning a period of the past four (4) years;
- Intermediate on MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Projects.
