How to Apply
Frequently Asked Questions
What qualifications or education do I need to apply for an Administrator role at a service station and Wimpy in Namibia?
Most employers require a Grade 12 certificate with passes in English and Mathematics, plus a diploma or certificate in Business Administration, Office Management, or a related field. Computer literacy in MS Office and experience with point-of-sale systems are highly valued. Previous retail or hospitality administration experience gives candidates a strong advantage.
What are the typical day-to-day responsibilities of a Service Station & Wimpy Administrator?
Daily tasks include managing cash reconciliations, processing supplier invoices, maintaining stock records, and coordinating staff schedules across both the fuel forecourt and restaurant. You will also handle customer complaints, ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, and prepare reports for management. Strong multitasking between administrative duties and frontline support is essential.
How does workplace culture and employer expectations differ in Namibian retail and hospitality administration?
Namibian employers in this sector value punctuality, flexibility with shift work including weekends and public holidays, and respectful communication in diverse multilingual environments. Hierarchical structures are common, so deference to management and clear reporting lines are expected. Demonstrating reliability and initiative often leads to greater trust and responsibility over time.
What career progression opportunities exist for Administrators in Namibia's fuel retail and fast-food sectors?
With proven performance, Administrators can advance to Senior Administrator, Assistant Manager, or Branch Manager roles within the service station or Wimpy franchise network. Some transition into regional administrative support, training coordination, or operations management positions. Pursuing further qualifications in management or accounting significantly improves promotion prospects.
What benefits are typically offered for full-time Administrator positions in Namibia?
Standard benefits usually include annual leave as prescribed by Namibian labour law, and some employers offer medical aid contributions or pension fund membership after a probationary period. Benefits vary considerably by employer size and whether the position is with a corporate operator or independent franchisee. Always clarify these details during the interview process.
How should I apply for this role, and what do Namibian employers look for in applications?
Submit a concise CV with a tailored cover letter highlighting relevant administrative and customer service experience, either via email or in person as specified in the job advertisement. Employers prioritize candidates who demonstrate attention to detail, honesty given the cash-handling responsibilities, and willingness to work flexible hours. Including contactable references from previous supervisors strengthens your application considerably.
