How to Apply
Frequently Asked Questions
What qualifications or experience do I need to apply for freelance property and tender reporting at NEPC?
A diploma or degree in journalism, media studies, or communications is typically preferred. Experience covering property markets, government tenders, or business reporting in Namibia strengthens your application significantly.
What are the typical day-to-day responsibilities for this freelance role?
You will research and monitor property listings, government tender announcements, and related business developments across Namibia. Your duties include writing accurate news briefs, verifying information with sources, and meeting strict editorial deadlines.
How does freelance work culture differ from permanent employment at Namibian media houses?
Freelancers manage their own schedules and tax obligations through Namibia's self-employment framework. You must proactively communicate with editors, as consistent reliability determines whether you receive repeat assignments.
Can freelance work at NEPC lead to permanent employment or career growth?
Strong performance as a freelancer can position you for staff positions when vacancies arise. Many Namibian journalists build regional expertise in property and tenders, later advancing to specialist correspondent or editorial roles.
What benefits should I expect as a freelance contractor with NEPC?
Freelance contracts typically exclude standard employee benefits like medical aid, pension, or paid leave. You should negotiate your rates to account for these costs and consider registering with NAMFISA-compliant retirement schemes independently.
How should I apply, and what do Namibian employers look for in freelance candidates?
Submit a concise portfolio demonstrating property or business reporting alongside your CV and certified academic documents. Employers value demonstrated knowledge of Namibian land reform, public procurement processes, and ability to deliver clean, publishable copy under pressure.
