Key Responsibilities
- Conduct routine workplace safety inspections to identify hazards and verify compliance with safety requirements.
- Monitor compliance with SHE regulations, company safety policies and applicable legislation.
- Identify and assess potential workplace safety hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Report SHEQ-related incidents and accidents promptly through the appropriate channels.
- Prepare inspection and investigation reports and maintain accurate safety documentation.
- Provide employees with safety and health guidance and communicate identified concerns to the SHEQ Department.
- Conduct fitness-for-work checks, including drug and alcohol testing, as required.
- Promote compliance with SHEQ standards, safe work practices and good housekeeping requirements.
Requirements
- Grade 12 certificate (20 point minimum)
- Valid Code 08 Driver’s Licence
- A Diploma or Degree in Safety Management or a related field, together with SAMTRAC or an equivalent safety qualification, will be preferred
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a SHE role
- Experience overseeing safety in a maintenance environment
- Mining industry experience will be an added advantage
- Knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation, hazard identification and risk control
- Understanding of safety requirements for maintenance work and equipment
- Good inspection, record-keeping and report-writing skills
- Computer literacy and good communication skills
- Strong attention to detail, sound judgement and the ability to work under pressure
