GEOLOGIST

A Bachelor's degree in Geology, Earth Sciences, or Mining Geology from a recognized institution such as UNAM or NUST is typically required. Professional registration with the Namibia Council for Natural Scientific Professions (NCNSP) is often expected, and a driver's license is usually essential for fieldwork.

Daily tasks include geological mapping, core logging, sampling and analysis of ore bodies, and interpreting geological data to guide exploration and extraction. You will also prepare technical reports, collaborate with mining engineers, and ensure compliance with Namibia's environmental and mining regulations.

Namibian mining employers value reliability, respect for hierarchical structures, and strong safety consciousness due to strict Mine Health and Safety Act requirements. Punctuality and clear communication are important, and many operations are located in remote areas requiring FIFO (fly-in-fly-out) or residential site arrangements.

Entry-level Geologists can advance to Senior Geologist, Chief Geologist, or Exploration Manager roles with experience and additional qualifications. Specializing in areas like economic geology, geostatistics, or obtaining a Master's degree can accelerate progression into consultancy or corporate leadership positions.
