Reporting to the MARC site Supervisor, the successful incumbent will be responsible to assist the Mechanic General to perform repairs, services, and maintenance on Caterpillar Equipment.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide assistance to Technicians performing repair and maintenance on D11 dozers and assorted CAT equipment
- Assist Technicians in ensuring a safe and acceptable turnaround time on machine breakdown repairs
- Support Technicians in performing interval maintenance on Caterpillar equipment according to required standards
- Assist with attending to in-field breakdowns and repairs on a standby basis
- Assist Technicians in safely performing in-field replacements of G.E.T and undercarriage components
- Maintain sound knowledge of site procedures and Barloworld Equipment safety standards
- Safely attend to after-hours breakdown repairs when required
Requirements
- Technical and mechanical aptitude in heavy/mining equipment
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Strong commitment to safety and compliance with site standards
- Good time management and organisational skills
- Willingness to work overtime, standby shifts, and after-hours breakdowns
- Gr. 12, passed
- At least 2-3 years’ experience in repair and maintenance of heavy/mining equipment.
- Minimum 2-3 years’ experience working with track-type equipment repair and maintenance.
- Ability to work under pressure
- Must be willing to work overtime, attend to breakdowns after hours, and work on a standby basis
- Must be in possession of a Code of Conduct not older than 6 Months
- Must have a Valid Driver’s Licence – manual transmission
- Willingness to relocate to Oranjemund; accommodation in Oranjemund is an advantage
- Valid overhead crane, rigging and forklift certification to be an added advantage
- Accommodation in Oranjemund an added advantage
- Required to be based on MA1 site
