The Senior Executive Director: Student Experience and Student Wellbeing plays a key role in the University’s executive leadership team, supporting the Vice-Chancellor in all aspects of the student experience and student wellbeing to deliver the University’s strategy. The position will make significant contributions to the development and implementation of strategy, research output across all areas of the portfolio and creating vibrant student communities across all UNAM Campuses.
The Senior Executive Director: Student Experience and Student Wellbeing will develop, lead and implement the strategic vision for mental health, physical wellness and campus life. The incumbent is further expected to drive policies and processes to ensure students’ holistic wellbeing and academic success including orientation and retention strategies, strategies to support students with disabilities, developing and maintaining campus culture, adequate and fit-for-purpose residences, counselling and wellness services, sports and student leadership development as well as planning sport, accommodation and catering infrastructure across all campuses.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting the academic core mission of the University by the provision of high-quality services and support to students to ensure student success and optimal development of graduate attributes;
- Ensuring that relevant research is conducted to support student success and maintain cutting-edge service delivery;
- Drive high performance across the operations portfolio by ensuring that the heads of units work as an integrated team and that activities are delivered in a cohesive, cost effective and coordinated way to improve organisational efficiency and effectiveness;
- Facilitating coherent cooperation among all role players (students, academic staff and professional student services);
- Providing visionary and strategic leadership for all aspects of student life, including residences, student activities, counselling and wellness services, as well as sports;
- Collaborate with other members of the senior leadership team to develop and implement policies and programs that enhance the student experience;
- Work closely with faculty, staff, and students to foster a culture of inclusiveness, respect, and support.
- Managing teams and foster a positive campus culture.
Requirements
- Academically strong individuals who command a high degree of respect from peers with strong communication and interpersonal skills, combined with a good understanding of the national and international roles of universities.
- A Doctorate in Education, Higher Education Administration or other relevant field;
- At least 10 years of experience in Senior Management position/s Knowledge and Skills;
- An outstanding record of experience in student affairs or a related administrative role;
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse student populations;
- Proven record of developing, mentoring and supporting others;
- Proven track record of successful program development and implementation;
- Strong leadership and team-building skills;
- Understanding of current issues and trends in higher education;
- Proven record of networking with strategic partners;
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to solve complex problems and apply a very high degree of independent judgment.
