The Foreman: Control and Instrumentation is responsible for supervising and leading the programming, installation, maintenance, inspection, testing, and adjustment of telemetry systems, radios, fire alarms, inverters, power supplies, and security systems, including surveillance and access control equipment. The role also includes the repair of electrical, electronic, mechanical, and pneumatic instruments and systems used to indicate, record, and control general processing plant operations, ensuring optimal performance and the safety of employees interacting with such equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the upkeep of plant control systems (PLC, DCS), control valves, transmitters, and other automation equipment.
- Propose and approve innovative strategies to enhance plant and infrastructure output.
- Ensure all maintenance, installations, and modifications comply with safety regulations, procedures, and quality standards.
- Plan, lay out, and check work against daily schedules to meet maintenance and operational objectives.
- Coordinate the allocation of job cards, materials, and labour to optimize productivity.
Requirements
- Grade 12.
- Valid driver’s licence.
- Trade Diploma in Electronics, Instrumentation or related fields.
- Five (5) years’ experience in a mining or manufacturing environment, of which 3 years should be at supervisory level.
- Strong technical knowledge of instrumentation, ability to read technical drawings, and leadership skills.
