Key Responsibilities

• Applicants must demonstrate competence and practical experience in the operation, maintenance, fault finding and repair of the following machinery and systems:
• Main Engine 6 CYLS DIESEL AKASAKA DM-28 1200HP
• Auxiliary Engines / Generator Sets YANMAR S-165 540 HP
• Gearboxes and Shaft Line Systems
• Hydraulic Systems and Winches
• Steering Gear Systems
• Electrical Distribution and Switchboards
• Manual Control Systems (Non-Automated)
• Ammonia Refrigeration System (NH3) HASEGAWA 100 HP
• Refrigeration Compressors and Condensers
• Fuel Oil Systems
• Air Compressors
• Fresh Water Generators
• Firefighting and Safety Systems

Requirements

• Certificate of Competency: Engineer Officer Class 5 (STCW Regulation III/3)
• Valid STCW Basic Safety Training
• Advanced Fire Fighting
• Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats
• Valid Seafarer’s Medical Certificate
• Valid Seaman’s Discharge Book
• Security Awareness / Designated Security Duties Certificate
• Must be able to read, interpret and understand Chinese technical manuals, schematics and equipment labelling
• Strong troubleshooting capability in high-risk refrigeration environments
• Ability to work independently and take full engineering responsibility onboard
• Minimum 20 years proven sea-going experience
• Experience as Chief Engineer on similar class vessel
• Experience on manually operated and legacy mechanical systems
• Proven experience in ammonia refrigeration systems
• Experience on Japanese-built or similar freezing vessels will be advantageous
