The Namibia Stud Breeders Association (NSBA) is dedicated to promoting stud breeding, through the registration, record and certify pedigree livestock, to further stud breeding, conduct performance testing and the improvement of genetics in the livestock sector in Namibia. The NSBA plays a crucial role in advancing genetic processes to improve the quality of the national herd, thereby strengthening Namibia’s livestock industry by supporting breeders and promoting sustainable breeding practices.
The role requires a balance of technical expertise in animal breeding, leadership skills, and administrative competence. The successful Manager will ensure that the stud breeding association not only improves livestock genetics but also builds trust and credibility among its members and the wider agricultural community.

- Takes responsibility for all aspects of management for the Association.
- Develop and implement breeding strategies aligned with genetic improvement goals.
- To ensure that stud breeders remain within the boundaries of their own breeder’s constitution and that they remain within the confinement of the Namibia Livestock Improvement Act.
- Ensure compliance with breed standards and association policies.
- Maintain accurate stud books, pedigrees, and breeding records.
- Use genetic evaluation tools and performance data to guide decisions.
- Report breeding outcomes and herd statistics to the association board.
- Liaise with breeders, farmers, veterinarians, and geneticists.
- Prepare budget, oversee stud fees, contracts, and financial transactions.
- Report financial performance to the board and stakeholders.
- Provide guidance and training to stud breeders on best practices.
- Represent the association at stud auctions, agricultural shows, conferences, and industry events.
- Ensure adherence to national livestock regulations and biosecurity protocols.
- Manage compliance with animal identification and traceability systems.
Requirements
- Namibian citizenship
- An appropriate Grade 12 certificate
- A business/animal science/veterinary science related degree, will be an added advantage
- At minimum of 3-5 years’ relevant experience
- Proven track record in breeding management, foaling and animal husbandry
- Hands-on breeding experience
- Familiarity with registration systems and compliance with the livestock improvement acts or breed society rules.
- Computer literacy
- A valid driver’s license
