Key Responsibilities

• Monitor SIEM dashboards and security alerts; triage events and escalate as needed
• Assist with incident response: evidence collection, containment support, and documentation
• Perform basic threat analysis using logs, EDR, and network telemetry
• Participate in weekly vulnerability scanning and track remediation with IT/DevOps
• Maintain and improve security playbooks, runbooks, and knowledge base articles
• Support phishing simulations, email security reviews, and user awareness efforts
• Help ensure endpoint hardening and baseline configurations are maintained
• Contribute to compliance tasks (e.g., access reviews, policy checks, audit evidence)

Requirements

• Diploma/Degree in Cyber Security, Information Security, Computer Science, or related field; equivalent experience considered
• Foundational understanding of networking (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP), operating systems (Windows/Linux), and security fundamentals (CIA triad, least privilege)
• Familiarity with at least one: SIEM, EDR, vulnerability scanners, or ticketing systems
• Basic knowledge of common attack techniques (phishing, brute force, malware) and defensive controls (firewalls, AV/EDR, MFA)
• Strong analytical mindset, attention to detail, and willingness to learn
• Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CySA+, CC, or equivalent
• Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and cloud security basics
• Scripting knowledge (Python, PowerShell, or Bash) for basic automation
• Understanding of regulatory frameworks (ISO 27001, SOC 2, GDPR, POPIA)
