Key Responsibilities

• Ensure that all machinery is operating within manufacturer’s specifications and is maintained according to the maintenance plan.
• Manage routine and preventative maintenance schedules for all shipboard machinery and systems.
• Supervise work carried out by contractors to ensure compliance with Company requirements.
• Oversee the engine room’s daily operations, ensuring all work is carried out safely and efficiently.
• Maintain accurate logs of machinery performance, repairs, inspections, fuel consumption and maintenance activities.
• Responsible for the supervision of all technical work done by the Greaser and Second Engineer.
• During dry dock operations, the Marine Engineer is responsible for compiling the repair and maintenance list as well as for the supervision of all the work carried out by contractors.

Requirements

• Marine Engineering Class 4 or 5 Certificate of Competency (CoC)
• Mandatory Safety Courses.
• Valid Advanced Firefighting, Advanced medical first Aid, Advanced proficiency in survival craft and lifeboats certificates.
• 10 Years working experience as a second engineer on the trawler vessels. Or 2 years working experience as a Chief Engineer on trawler vessels.
• Valid Seagoing Medical Certificate (DMA)
• Updated Seaman Record Book
• Curriculum vitae
• Certified copy of all relevant qualifications (which must include Grade 12, ID, Certificate of Conduct and for foreign qualifications NQA qualifications assessment).
