Seaflower Group of Companies (incorporating FISHCOR and its two main operating subsidiaries, Seaflower Whitefish Corporation Limited & Seaflower Lobster Corporation) is seeking to appoint a MARINE SECOND ENGINEER. The incumbent reports to the Marine Chief Engineer and will be Responsible for ensuring the proper maintenance of the vessel’s engineering systems and equipment, extending the lifespan of these systems and reducing the risk of breakdowns. The Second Engineer assists the Marine Chief Engineer in the day-to-day operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Performs sea, port watch engine room keeping duties, and maintain a safe engineering watch.
- Operate emergency equipment and apply emergency procedures.
- Maintains the diesel and steering engine, air compressor, emergency generator, lifeboat engine and electrical system of the vessel.
- Operate fuel, lubrication, ballast and pumping.
- Reports to the Chief Engineer all deficiencies found in the generating set, electrical machinery and equipment.
- Ensuring proper maintenance of equipment, which can extend the lifespan of the equipment and reduce the risk of breakdowns.
- Maintaining the Engine Logbook and ensuring that the Planned Maintenance System (PMS) records are up to date, ensuring that all emergency machinery and equipment are in working order.
Requirements
- Grade 12
- Marine Engineering CoC Class 6 FII
- Valid auxiliary certificates such as (Safety Courses-Basic Safety Certificate, Advanced Safety courses).
- Valid Seagoing Medical Certificate (DMA)
- Updated Seaman Record Book
- At least 6 months to a 1-year experience as a Second Engineer on a trawler vessel
