Job Title: Mechanic General – Karibib
Role Purpose: Reporting to the Service Supervisor, the successful incumbent will perform planned and breakdown repairs, services and maintenance on earthmoving equipment and components, to supplier standards and customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out scheduled services, maintenance, and repairs (disassemble, inspect and assemble) on earthmoving equipment on customer sites or at Barloworld Equipment sites
- Carry out machine inspections and technical analysis (TA’s) on machines or components, compile accurate reports with recommendations to the customers
- Efficiently troubleshoot and diagnose machine systems and carry out repairs to ensure optimal utilization and availability of machines
- Maintain professional image when representing Barloworld Namibia
- Maintain and work according to Barloworld Equipment Contamination Standards
- Ensure that the ultimate quality standards are maintained on the work performed according to OEM standards.
- Control own admin (labour booking, service reports, part returns, expenses etc.)
- Follow through to ensure that quality and productivity standards of own work are consistently and accurately maintained
- Provide technical support to service teams and customers
- Identify repetitive failures and ensure effective investigations
- Think analytically and have a mechanical and practical aptitude
- Ensure safe work practice
- Deliver high quality service to all Customers
Requirements
- Qualified Diesel Mechanic with a Trade Diploma or National Vocational Certificate (NQF3) with a minimum of 3 years’ experience with earthmoving equipment
- Caterpillar experience will be an added advantage
- Strong knowledge in fault finding on engine systems
- Computer literacy (MS Office, SAP, AMT, and Microsoft Projects)
- Good report writing skills and ability to understand and work from Service Manual
- Good communication skills (written and oral)
- Electronic Technician (ET) and Service Information System (SIS) knowledge and experience will be an added advantage
- Must be willing to work overtime, weekends, and public holidays
- Must be a self-starter and able to work independently
- Must be in possession of a complete set tools (imperial and metric)
- Must be able to cope under pressure and varying workloads
- Must be in possession of a Code of Conduct not older than 1 year
- Valid Code B/ BE driver’s license (manual transmission)
