Purpose of the Job

The Drilling & Production Superintendent monitors and coordinate drilling operations activities and ensures they meet the drilling meters and quality targets safely. Also monitor and ensure effective compliance with company policies and legal requirements for the drilling functions.

Key Performance Areas

• Manages the drill production process, including technical support to ensure optimum process availability, targets for the process are met, performance and contribution to achievement of the company’s goals and profitability are achieved.
• Drill Plan Goals achieved, Machines retained in reasonable condition to last the required lifetime of 60 000 hours Labour Act and Mining Ordinance followed and complied at all times.
• Ensure effective communication between office and field operations.

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications:

• Grade 12 certificate
• Code B driver’s license is compulsory
• Mining Engineering Degree

Experience:

• Over 5 years’ experience in open pit industry, with which 3 years were in a supervisory position

Knowledge and Skills:

• Strong leadership and communication skills
• Knowledge of Short-Term Planning and/or Survey functions will be an advantage.
• Excellent understanding of drilling techniques in large hard rock mines and experience with managing contractors
