SMEI Projects Namibia is seeking experienced skilled personnel to lead and coordinate construction activities at our project sites in Namibia. The scope of services includes the installation of structural steelwork, platework, tanks, piping, and mechanical equipment (SMPP).

SENIOR PROJECT PLANNER

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, maintain, and update the detailed project schedule to support safe, timely delivery of SMPP construction activities.

• Coordinate with project management, engineering, procurement, and site teams to ensure the schedule reflects current construction methodologies and constraints.

• Monitor progress on site, analyse variances, identify potential delays, and recommend mitigation and recovery actions to keep the project on track.

• Prepare and issue regular lookahead programmes, progress updates, and schedule reports for internal management and the client.

• Use Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project to build, resource load, and maintain schedules, including logic links, critical path, and key milestones.

• Collaborate with the client, contractors, and subcontractors to optimise resource allocation and ensure activities are aligned with project objectives.

Requirements

• Minimum 8-10 years proven experience as a Project / Site Planner in SMPP or similar heavy industrial/mining construction environments.

• Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project, including development of baseline and progress schedules.

• Strong understanding of construction sequencing, erection methodologies, and interfaces for steelwork, platework, tanks, piping, and mechanical equipment.

• Demonstrated ability to work independently on site, interact confidently with clients, and provide clear planning advice to the project team.

• Strong communication, analytical, and reporting skills, with the ability to challenge and validate progress information from site.

• Ability to lead, mentor, and motivate onsite planning and project teams.
