CUSTOMS AND EXCISE CLERK (BASED IN WALVIS BAY, NAMIBIA)

The position exists to facilitate efficient customs bond management, clearance of cargo, ensure compliance with regulations, and maintain accurate documentation for all imports and exports processed through the Dry port.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Prepare and verify import/export documentation to ensure conformity with customs requirements.

• Capture entries into the NAMRA ASYCUDA system to facilitate timely cargo clearance.

• Ensure all supporting documents (bills of entry, invoices, permits) are complete and accurate for customs submission.

• Ensure all cargo movements comply with customs and excise legislation to prevent penalties or delays.

• Maintain accurate records of cleared cargo, duties paid, and pending transactions for audit purposes.

• Reconcile customs documentation with operational records to ensure completeness and accuracy.

• Prepare daily and weekly reports on customs activities for submission to the Operations Officer.

• Liaise with agents, customs officials, forwarders, and transporters to coordinate the clearance process efficiently

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• Diploma in Customs Legislation and Procedures/ Shipping and Forwarding, or a related field

• 2- 3 years’ of relevant experience

• A valid Code B driver’s license is a requirement.
