The Namibia Airports Company (NAC) is a wholly State-owned company established in terms of the NAC Act (Act no. 25 of 1998) and governed by the Public Enterprises Governance Act (Act no.1 of 2019) and Companies Act (Act no.28 of 2004), to undertake the operations, management, and control of certain aerodromes in Namibia, and to provide for incidental matters.
Assistant Airport Engineer
Duty Station: Head Office.
Department: Infrastructure Development & Asset Care.
Direct Supervisor: Airport Engineer.
Primary Purpose: To support the Airport Engineer in carrying out engineering responsibilities and implementing the Project Management Policy and Maintenance Programs; Responsible for providing assistance to the Airport Engineer with infrastructure development / asset maintenance tasks of the organization.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience: Bachelor’s Degree on NQF level (7) in Civil / Structural Engineering, with three (3) years’ working experience in the field of Engineering.
Added Advantages: Registration with the Engineering Council of Namibia as Professional / Incorporated Engineer-in-training.
Key Performance Areas: Implementation of maintenance / construction and rehabilitation project through outsourcing: Consulting Engineering Services; Implementation of maintenance / construction and rehabilitation projects In-house: (Planning and Design Services); Successful completion of projects within set time, quality, and cost factors; Ensure compliance to the civil aviation requirements; Management and administration; Quality Management System (QMS) and Safety Management System (SMS).
Competencies / Skills: Basic knowledge of current engineering principles and practices applied in design, construction and other engineering projects; Basic knowledge of principles and practices applied in the inspection and testing of materials used in the construction of engineering projects; Basic knowledge of engineering surveying, budgeting principles, and project management applications; A working knowledge of the department’s project delivery system and of the aviation industry; Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, GDMS (Geospatial Data Management System), AutoCAD (Drawing Program), Microsoft Project, and ERP Project Management Module; Ability to prepare, interpret and utilize engineering plans, maps and specifications; Ability to exercise sound judgment in handling problems associated with engineering projects; Ability to learn to apply engineering principles and practices.
