COST AND MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTANT (RE-ADVERTISEMENT)
PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
The Cost and Management Accountant is responsible for the ongoing analysis of process constraints, product costing, margin analysis and pricing costs to underlying processes. Key responsibilities will include assisting senior managers with financial decision making, preparing financial reports, assisting in budgeting processes and developing and implementing strategies to reduce operational and production costs.
In addition, this role oversees accurate and timely payroll processing in accordance with company policies and statutory requirements.
Note: This position is not a finance or accounting role but specifically focused on costing and production analysis.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
Cost Analysis and Reporting

Analyse manufacturing operations, including material usage, labour, and overheads, to identify cost drivers and inefficiencies.

Prepare and analyse cost reports, including standard cost versus actual cost variances, gross margin analysis, and other relevant metrics. Constantly review cost allocation assumptions and rates.

Develop and maintain accurate cost accounting systems and standard cost data.

Analyse changes in production design, raw materials, or manufacturing methods to determine the impact on costs.

Provide detailed cost reports and recommendations to management.
Product Costing and Margin Management

Calculate and update standard product costs.

Review cost allocation assumptions and rates regularly.

Conduct margin and breakeven analysis per product and customer.

Support product pricing reviews and assist with new product cost estimates.
Budgeting and Forecasting

Provide cost data for annual budgets and forecasts.

Monitor actual vs budgeted costs and investigate variances.

Support capital budgeting analysis related to production costs.
Payroll Management
-
Accurately calculate and process employee wages, salaries, bonuses, overtime, and deductions.

Maintain and update employee payroll records, including leave and overtime processing.

Generate and reconcile payroll reports and ensure compliance with all payroll tax regulations.

Prepare and submit statutory reports such as PAYE, Social Security, Pension, and VET levies.

Resolve payroll discrepancies and respond to employee queries timeously.
Compliance and Procedures

Ensure adherence to company cost accounting and payroll policies and procedures.

Maintain accurate documentation and audit trails for costing and payroll activities.

Support audit processes related to costing and payroll information.
Collaboration and Communication

Work closely with Production, Procurement, Finance, and Senior Management to ensure accurate cost data and efficient operations.

Communicate cost analysis findings and recommendations effectively.
QUALIFICATIONS, COMPENTENCIES AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Costing, or Management Accounting.

Minimum 5 years of experience in costing/accounting or manufacturing costing.

CIMA qualification or similar professional certification will be an advantage.

Knowledge of VIP Sage Payroll and Income Tax Act.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP system (costing modules)

Strong organizational, communication, problem-solving and analytical abilities.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
-
Namibian citizenship and driver’s license.
