INDEPENDENT TRUSTEE

Job Summary
The Trustees of the FUNDSATWORK PENSION AND PROVIDENT FUNDS (NAMIBIA) (“the Funds”) are searching for a qualified and experienced individual to serve as an Independent Trustee to the Funds.
The Funds are defined contribution, umbrella pension/provident funds registered and approved by NAMFISA and the Namibian Revenue Agency.
Applicants with outstanding professional and educational background and Persons from the designated groups as per Affirmative Action Act of 1998 are encouraged to apply.
The Independent Trustee shall hold office for a period of 5 years, and the appointment will be directly with the FUNDSATWORK UMBRELLA PENSION AND PROVIDENT FUNDS (NAMIBIA) and the successful incumbent.
ELIGIBILITY OF CANDIDATES:
The candidate should be an individual who has not been an employee of Momentum Metropolitan or its subsidiaries or any service provider to the Funds in the last 12 months and should ideally have experience as a Trustee on other retirement funds.
The incumbent will be responsible for the following:

To work with the Board of Trustees to achieve the objectives of the Funds, actively participate in Trustee meetings and Commit- tee meetings adding value and bringing innovative ideas to the Board that can assist the Funds to deliver sustainable long-term results for the members of the Funds.

Act independently and exercise their powers in a manner that is impartial and not influenced by inappropriate considerations, for the benefit of the Funds and their members.

Ensure that the Funds are financially sound, responsibly managed and governed in accordance with the Rules and all applicable legislation.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS OF CANDIDATES:

Thorough and sound knowledge of, and experience in pension fund governance and administration.

Experience at Executive or Senior Management level.

Sound knowledge of the Pension Funds Act, NAMFISA Act, Income Tax Act, the Financial Institutions and Markets Act and any other relevant legislation that may have an impact on the operations of the Funds.

Finance and accounting experience or qualification will be a distinct advantage.

Certification in the retirement fund and/or insurance industry will be an added advantage.

Ability to understand strategic matters and accept the legal and fiduciary duties, liabilities and responsibilities of a Trustee.

Sound knowledge of Corporate Governance, sufficient time and commitment to fulfill the role through value adding of the skills the incumbent possesses.

At least 5 years of working experience in the Pensions/Financial services, Human Resources or Risk and Investment environment. Should be well versed in pensions, investments and insurance subject matters.

Experience of Board Membership will be an added advantage.

The individual must be of good standing to ensure approval of the appointment by NAMFISA while satisfying the fit and proper requirements.
