Business Journalist Trainee

The Namibian is looking for a dynamic and passionate business journalist trainee. The candidate will focus on economics, corporate, data reporting and energy-sector reporting. This position is for one year.

Responsibilities:

• • Produce well-written, relevant, accurate and balanced business news and investment stories

  • Manage multiple stories simultaneously under tight deadlines;

  • Perform any other duty as is reasonably assigned by the editor across all platforms.

  • Cover the oil and energy sector

  • Learn to source, interpret, and explain financial and economic data.

  • Produce content using data analysis.

  • Build a portfolio through beat rotations and on-the-job training.

Requirements:

• • Relevant degree (finance, economics, accounting, data, or business journalism);

  • Be able to read and analyse financial statements and other financial information;

  • Excellent communication, writing and editing skills;

  • Ability to work under pressure and carry out tasks independently;

  • Be accepting of flexible work hours

  • Have the flexibility to travel when required
