GRADUATE GEOLOGIST/HYDROGEOLOGIST – ECC

FIXED TERM OPPORTUNITY – Graduate Geologist/Hydrogeologist

ECC is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented *Graduate Geologist/Hydrogeologist* to join our expanding team. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on field experience and develop your technical expertise in groundwater and geological investigations.

The position is offered as a *fixed-term contract of six (6) months*, with the potential for extension based on performance and project needs.

Key Responsibilities:

– Undertake field mapping and borehole siting (geophysical interpretation included).
– Confirm drilling locations using handheld GPS devices.
– Inspect materials on site to ensure they meet specifications (e.g., steel and PVC casing).
– Conduct lithological logging of drill cuttings.
– Record drilling penetration rates, water strikes, and blow yields (V-notch).
– Maintain photographic logs.
– Prepare drill logs and reports.
– Undertake environmental monitoring.
– Supervise borehole construction, including metres drilled, casing sequence, and gravel packing.
– Measure water levels and yields from boreholes.
– Collect in-field hydrochemical data and samples.
– Undertake or oversee step testing, constant rate discharge tests, and falling head tests.
– Test pumping data analysis.
– Site water audits.
– Guide and assist contractors with site compliance during mobilisation, operations, and demobilisation.

Job Requirements:

– *B.Sc in Geology or Hydrogeology*
– Familiarity with GIS would be advantageous
– *Valid driver’s license (manual)*
– Willingness to travel and work in the field for extended periods
– Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
– Strong technical reporting and data recording/management skills
– Excellent written and verbal communication skills
– Exceptional interpersonal skills
