PIGGERY FARM MANAGER – Alexandershoek Piggery

VACANCY 

Alexandershoek Piggery, situated near Moorreesburg, Western Cape is a modern, state-of-the-art pig farming operation with a dedicated management team and a commitment to the highest standards in animal welfare and biosecurity. We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Piggery Farm Manager to join our team and help drive operational excellence.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Oversee the daily management of a large-scale, farrow-to-wean piggery (3,200 sows, 8,000 pigs).

• Ensure strict adherence to biosecurity protocols, animal welfare standards, and all relevant agricultural regulations.

• Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of production, health, breeding, and farm activities.

• Lead, supervise, and motivate a team of farm staff, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

• Perform and oversee basic maintenance of farm equipment and facilities.

• Liaise effectively with staff, management, and external stakeholders to ensure smooth farm operations.

• Work weekends and flexible hours as required to meet the needs of the farm.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Previous experience in piggery or livestock farm management.

• Excellent attention to detail and strong record-keeping skills.

• Basic maintenance knowledge (equipment and facilities).

• Trustworthy, reliable, and committed to high standards of animal care.

• Sound knowledge of biosecurity, animal welfare, and agricultural regulations.

• Demonstrated leadership and team management abilities.

• Effective communication skills.

• Willingness to work weekends.

• Relevant agricultural qualification or training is an advantage.
