JOB PURPOSE

The journalist is responsible for delivering compelling and timely general news content. This individual will research on and produce engaging articles, interviews, and features, covering a diverse range of topics. The goal is to inform and entertain our audience while maintaining high journalistic standards.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

• Write, compile news stories

• Cover news events, press conferences and initiate own stories

• Ensure timely and accurate delivery of news content

• Contribute to all New Era news platforms, including digital, print and special publications

• Take photographs to illustrate stories

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• Degree (NQA Level 7) in Media Studies or related field

• Three (3) years relevant work experience

COMPETENCY/SKILLS

• Excellent command of the English language and at least one local language

• High degree of integrity, time management

• Excellent writing skills

• Self-motivated

• Nose for news

• Computer literacy

• Ability to work under pressure and during weekends

• Photography skills

• Knowledge of media ethics
