FARM PRODUCTION MANAGER – Welwitchia

VACANCY

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

* The farm production manager is responsible for overseeing daily operations of a farm to ensure optimal productivity, sustainability, and profitability. Plan, coordinate, and monitor crop and livestock production while managing resources, labour, and compliance with regulations.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

* A relevant Bachelor of Science: Honours in Agriculture NQF L8 (Horticulture/Agronomy).
* Minimum of five (5) years’ hands-on experience in horticulture and farm operations, including crop management, irrigation systems, pest and disease control, and greenhouse management.
* Experience in planting, growing, and harvesting plant products, along with their storage and handling techniques, is essential.
* Knowledge of MS Office (MS Word, MS Excel, Outlook).
* Good planning, organising & record keeping skills.
* Skilled in forecasting production costs and projected returns to support budgeting and strategic planning.
* Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Experienced in managing inventory of raw materials and finished goods to ensure optimal stock levels and smooth operational flow.
* Ability to work independently and effectively manage one’s own tasks.
* Proven ability to supervise, mentor, and coordinate subordinates to ensure efficient team performance.
* Valid Code B driver’s licence.
* The candidate must be committed to strict adherence to environmental, safety, and agricultural regulations in order to ensure compliant and sustainable operations.
* The candidate must possess flexibility and be prepared to work overtime, weekends, and public holidays when necessary.
