Our client, a leading healthcare provider in Namibia, offering comprehensive services and specialised renal care is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Clinical Technologist specialising in Nephrology to join their team
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Operate, monitor, and maintain dialysis equipment, ensuring all systems function optimally for patient care.

Administer dialysis treatments to patients, ensuring safe and effective therapy in compliance with clinical protocols.

Assist in managing patients with chronic kidney disease by offering clinical support, education, and treatment options.

Perform diagnostic tests such as blood pressure monitoring, ultrafiltration, and blood sampling.

Work closely with nephrologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide patient-centered care.

Participate in the calibration and maintenance of dialysis machines and other medical equipment.

Ensure strict adherence to infection control and safety standards within the unit by following infection control policies and procedures as per company guidelines.

Provide training and mentorship to junior staff and new team members.

Maintain and regularly update accurate and up-to-date patient medical files, including proper documentation and information on patient treatments and dialysis procedures.

Attend doctors’ rounds and record changes made by the treating physician.

Ensure that the prescribed erythropoietin (EPO) is administered to patients as directed by the physician.

Conduct daily checks on the RO system in the unit and hospital to ensure proper functioning.

Manage acute cases within the hospital as required.

Monitor and control the appropriate stock usage within the unit to prevent wastage and ensure operational efficiency.

Assist the Unit Manager in auditing patient files to maintain high-quality standards of care.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Technology (Nephrology).
- At least 2 years experience in a clinical setting, specifically in nephrology or kidney dialysis.
- Registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA), registration with the Health Professions Council of Namibia (HPCNA) will be an added advantage.
- Must be able to operate independently without supervision.
- Strong knowledge of dialysis procedures, nephrology care, and medical equipment used in renal therapy.
- Strong knowledge of HPCSA Scope of Practice for Clinical Technology.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in a high-pressure environment.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong commitment to patient care, safety, and quality standards.
- Ability to handle confidential patient information with professionalism and integrity.
DESIRABLE SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES
- Experience with automated and home dialysis procedures.
- Knowledge of renal nutrition and patient education in chronic kidney disease.
- Willingness to stay updated on the latest advancements in nephrology and dialysis technology.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must possess a high level of empathy and integrity.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- High attention to detail and ability to manage patient records accurately.
