About N-BiG:
The Namibia Biomass Industry Group (N-BiG) is a Section 21 not-for-profit organization that leads Namibia’s bush-biomass sector. Representing a wide network of stakeholders, including private, public, and academic institutions, N-BiG delivers innovation and technical expertise across the biomass value chain.
As part of the Environmental and Social Support Project for the Otjikoto Biomass Power Plant (ESS-OBPS), funded by the Mitigation Action Facility (MAF) and the French Global Environmental Facility (FFEM), N-BiG has received a grant to implement a Capacity Building and Outreach Program. The initiative aims to empower biomass harvesters, landowners, farmers, communities, and SMEs to engage in sustainable bush control and biomass production.
Position Summary:
The Technical Officer will support the Capacity Building and Outreach Program of the Bush Biomass Project. The role involves assisting with technical content delivery, managing outreach activities, and contributing to stakeholder knowledge and skills development.
Key Performance Areas:
1. Technical Support & Capacity Building

Assist in organizing and delivering training on biomass production, technology, and sustainability

Support the development of training materials, manuals, and educational tools
-
Participate in knowledge transfer related to bush biomass harvesting and production
2. Outreach and Stakeholder Engagement
-
Support public awareness initiatives on the socio-economic and environmental benefits of biomass projects
-
Coordinate and attend workshops, field visits, and stakeholder events
-
Develop and maintain stakeholder relationships, particularly in rural communities
3. Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting
-
Maintain records of outreach and training activities
-
Assist in monitoring the progress and effectiveness of capacity-building efforts
-
Prepare activity and progress reports
-
Provide field support and ensure accurate data collection during outreach
Minimum Requirements:
-
Bachelor’s Degree in Natural Resource Management, Agriculture, Environmental Science, or related field

Honours Degree will be an added advantage
-
Minimum 3 years of relevant technical experience

Knowledge of Namibia’s bush biomass industry
-
Basic understanding of biomass harvesting, processing, and conversion technologies

Experience working in rural communities
-
Valid Code B driver’s license

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

Fluency in English (local language skills are an advantage)
