EXPLORATION GEOLOGIST- TECH06 

Role Purpose: Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, the Exploration Geologist will play a crucial part in the drilling planning and management. The candidate will also play a vital role in the provision and analysis of the grade control and exploration drilling, resource delineation, and mine mapping data to be used in geological modelling and estimation, with the aim of upgrading the resource model.

Educational and Experience Requirements

• A relevant Degree in Geology
• At least minimum 2 years proven experience as Geologist in a base metal exploration environment.
• Geological software experience i.e Surpac, Grade Runner, Mine sight, Datamine and GIS will aid advantage
• Database management
• Chip and core logging
• Grade control
• Drilling and sampling experience

Key Responsibilities

Providing geological support to the drilling operation Daily geological, structural and geotechnical logging
• Assisting with the interpretation and validation of the drilling data
Assisting with generation of structural and geological models
Drilling production tracking and reconciliation
Reporting, data collection and system improvement
Liaising with the technical services and processing department
Upholding a high level of workplace health, safety and environmental standards Validation of data suitable for database creation and database management.
Drilling, sampling and logging
Geological mapping and reporting
Supervise and mentor geological assistants
Drill rig set up and core orientation
Skills and knowledge
Good scientific and technical skills; good observation skills; strong spoken and written communication skills
