ABATTOIR MANAGER

Purpose of the Position

The Primary duties of an Abattoir Manager is to manage the procurement, production, administration and marketing processes of the slaughter facility.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Grade 12 with added related tertiary qualification
• 5 years’ experience in abattoir or related industries
• Sound knowledge in abattoir operations
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Excellent time management and organizational skills
• Proven leadership and creative abilities
• Expert skills in planning, organizing and human relations
• Excellent training skills and ability
• Basic understanding of the livestock and meat industry and related
• Valid driver’s license

KEY FUNCTIONS/PERFORMANCE AREAS

• Development of procurement plans for the operations and ensure the implementation thereof
• Design and implement slaughter, cutting/deboning plans
• Design and ensure implementation of slaughter facility hygiene and safety standards
• Ensure implementation and adherence to all regulatory requirements
• Ensure the sales plans match the cutting/deboning plans
• Arrange and ensure timeous delivery plans to the markets
• Design and implementation of human relation matters
• Develop and maintain client network for continuous sales
• Develop and implement key performance areas for all staff members
• Monitoring and controlling stock levels
• Ensure maintaining of efficient productions systems to maintain and improving profits
