Erongo Marine Enterprise Pty Ltd (EME), a subsidiary of the Oceana Group, operates in the Namibian Horse Mackerel industry and is based in Walvis Bay. The position of Senior Financial Accountant is vacant and EME is seeking suitable candidates to apply.

This role will report to the Financial Manager and will be responsible to provide analysis and timely financial information across a range of financial issues, development and implementation of financial policies and procedures, treasury reporting, coordinating the preparation and submission of monthly financial information, and preparation of statutory financial statements in accordance with accounting standards and other statutory requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

– Reviewing monthly journals
– Preparing monthly general ledger reconciliations
– Cash flow management
– Working capital reporting
– Payroll: review and verify, including reconciling foreign crew salaries
– Preparing weekly schedules for forward cover requirements. Ensure all foreign purchases are adequately covered in line with Group Forex Policy
– Reviewing and approval of related party transactions
– Reviewing and approval of Right Holding Entities and Trusts transactions
– Preparing audit files, tax submissions and Annual Financial Statements
– Fixed Assets Management
– Preparing annual tax return schedules and tax calculations
– Preparation of annual insurance declarations
– Preparation of Divisional Management and Board Packs
– Preparation of monthly accounts/quarterly schedules to Group in line with submission deadlines
– Execution of internal audit plan, close out prior year report items
– Conducting pre-audits to assist in reducing potential findings
– Involvement in the annual year-end process with Group
– Preparing audit files and take lead during the external audit process
– Prepare the Annual Financial Statements
– Preparation of a subsidiary reporting pack
– Prepare budget and forecast schedules to Group in line with submission deadlines
– Preparing all hedging contracts for forex monthly
– Preparing schedules for government and statutory requirements (for example Ministry of Fisheries, Bank of Namibia Submissions, etc)
– Management, discipline, and development of staff

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

– Namibian citizen
– Bachelor of Accounting or Commence majoring in Accounting plus completed articles
– CIMA/CA(SA/NAM) or equivalent is advantageous
– At least 6 to 8 years of experience in a finance and reporting environment
– Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
– Experience and knowledge in the fishing industry is an added advantage
– ERP knowledge – SAP or similar system
