MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To ensure that the municipal fleet of vehicles, machinery, and equipment are kept in a
good and serviceable condition at all times and that repairs and maintenance services
are completed timeously.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

• Assists to repair diesel and petrol-driven machines, vehicles, and equipment,
including minor auto-electrical functions.
• Assist to repair/replacing tires and purchases of equipment as required.
• Help to complete welding, and fabricating tasks such as soldering, cutting with
welding flames to repair, and constructing road signs and other structures as required.
• Assist to complete panel beating, spray painting activities, general overhauling, and rebuilding tasks as required for vehicle repairs.
• Assist to maintain all workshop administration, completing, and recording work
orders, and maintenance sheets, and filling and documenting information as required.
• Assist to maintain inventory records of workshop stock, tools, and equipment as
per requirements.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Grade 10
• N3 Trade Diploma in Mechanic
• At least 3 years experience in the maintenance of light and heavy machinery and
mechanical equipment.
• Experience in the repair and maintenance of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Experience in repair and maintenance of auto electrical work.
• Experience in welding and fabrication work
• Physically able Basic Mechanical Aptitude
• Driving license code C plus PDP
• Code CE will be added advantage.
