APPOINTMENT REQUIREMENTS:
A BSc (Hons) Degree (NQF Level 8) or equivalent qualification majoring in the following fields: Climate Change, Environmental Science, Biology, Biodiversity Management, Sustainable Development, Applied Environmental Field or Geography, plus three (3) years of appropriate working experience.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Applicant must be in possession of an appropriate Master’s Degree or equivalent qualification (NQF L9), majoring in the following fields: Climate Change, Environmental Science, Biology, Biodiversity Management, Sustainable Development, Applied Environmental Field or Geography, with at least five (5) years appropriate experience and have a valid Code B Driver’s License.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The incumbent will be responsible for managing the Subdivision: Climate Change by promoting activities of climate change policies, plans, programs and projects.
MAIN FUNCTIONS:
⦁ Serve as the head for climate change subdivision;
⦁ Lead the formulation of project proposals under the Multilateral Funding Windows
⦁ Provide technical guidance to the MEFT’s management on issues of climate change
⦁ Coordinate, develop, implement, and supervise climate change projects
⦁ Ensure the provision and maintenance of up-to-date climate change information to stakeholders and the public
⦁ Establish and maintain local, regional, and international climate change networks; interact with partner organizations and exchange knowledge and information with other MEFT directorates, DEA, line ministries, NGOs, and other national and international institutions and agencies.
⦁ Participate in conferences and meetings, present papers and represent the ministry at national and international for related to areas of assigned responsibility
⦁ Support the management of the climate change /biodiversity/sustainable land management subdivision
⦁ Collect, synthesize, and analyze, store, retrieve data derived from pollution emission measurements, atmospheric monitoring, meteorological and mineralogical information, soil and water sample analysis as relevant to climate change/ biodiversity/sustainable land management
⦁ Participate in public education activities on climate change/biodiversity/sustainable land management
