The incumbent will report to the Superintendent: Occupational Hygiene and be
accountable for:
ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• Legal, safety, health, and environmental compliance as well as promoting a safety
culture, systems, and design in the area of responsibility.
• Lead by example by living the company purpose and values.
• Execute corporate and site agenda regarding occupational hygiene (including
projects, monitoring, etc.).
• Engage with employees and contractors with regard to occupational hygiene and
related concepts.
• Collect and report on information relating to occupational hygiene.
• Identify, draw up, and/or review policies, procedures, forms, and other documents
applicable to the incumbent’s tasks, when needed (support the DMS / IMS).
• Support the Health & Environment Department in its vision and its goals, including
legal and social risk mitigation and management.
• Conduct HSE inspections across areas under responsibility.
• Perform risk assessments, monitoring or data collection surveys with regard to
occupational hygiene across areas under the responsibility.
• Capture monitoring data, findings, etc. into databases/spreadsheets/recordkeeping systems (including data from external sources).
• Assist with campaigns, projects, reporting and other operational activities, as and
when required.
• Ensure that resources are used effectively and efficiently.
• Identify and drive opportunities for continuous improvement.
• Report on the above-mentioned items, as and when required.
• Maintain registration with SAIOH and / or other professional bodies.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
• A BSc Degree, BTech degree, or Diploma in Environmental Health, Occupational
Hygiene or closely related health / HSE discipline.
• Registration with SAIOH/HPCN.
• 2-3 years experience in materials handling, mining, or smelting operation.
• High level of accuracy, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to manage schedules and programs.
• Good communication skills and interpersonal skills.
• Computer literate (Microsoft Office).
• A Driving License: Code B.
