DESCRIPTION
Windhoek Consulting Engineers (PTY) Ltd has a vacancy for an experienced Senior Electrical/Electronics Engineer in its Windhoek office. The candidate will be responsible for the implementation of electrical and electronic-type projects throughout Namibia.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Design and develop electrical systems and components: The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for designing and developing electrical systems and components that meet project specifications, requirements, and standards. This includes creating schematics, circuit diagrams, and technical specifications.
• Test and evaluate electrical systems and components: The Electrical Engineer will test and evaluate the electrical systems and components to ensure they meet performance, safety, and quality standards. This includes performing functional and stress tests, debugging and troubleshooting issues and analyzing test results to identify improvements.
• Ensuring electrical systems and components meet safety, performance, and quality standards.
• Collaborating with other engineers and cross-functional teams on projects.
• Providing technical support to other departments and stakeholders.
• Responsible for project management and planning, including scheduling, resource allocation, risk management, contract administration and payment valuations.
• Developing and implementing quality control procedures.
• Conducting feasibility studies and research to identify solutions to engineering problems.
• Write technical reports and provide technical support to other departments: The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for documenting their work, including writing technical reports, test reports, and other documentation as required. They will also provide technical support to other departments, including answering technical questions, providing training and mentorship, and collaborating on projects.
• Stay up-to-date with industry developments and new technologies: The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for staying up-to-date with industry developments and new technologies.
• Departmental Management: The senior electrical engineer will be responsible for the management of the electrical team including electrical engineers, technicians, and draughtsmen.
• Business development; the senior electrical engineer will be responsible for sourcing and securing new business for the electrical department.
Qualifications and Requirements:
• B.Sc. (Hons) Electrical/Electronic, B.Eng. Electrical/Electronic or B.Tech. (Electrical/Electronic);
• Minimum 10 years relevant experience as an electrical/electronic consulting engineer;
• Minimum 2 years relevant experience in a management position;
• Registered as a professional or incorporated engineer with ECN or ECSA;
• Valid SADC Driver’s License.
Beneficial Skills & Experience:
• International project implementation experience;
• Renewable energy generation design experience;
• Data center designs experience;
• Familiarity with Fidic, JBCC, and GCC contract agreements;
• Exceptional communication, report writing, and computer skills;
• Experience in field-related software packages.
