CLASS TEACHER – Luderitz Blue School 711 views

DESCRIPTION 
The Luderitz Blue School is a new primary school which will offer an international standard of education, open­ing its doors to learners in January 2023. The school will run a system of scholarship places, and coordinate a wide range of extra-curricular activities open to children across the Luderitz community. We are a small but very strong team looking for a determined, proactive, resourceful, and enthusiastic teacher to join us from January 2023.

Prerequisites
⦁ A relevant teaching qualification (BA Hons Degree in Education or an equivalent qualification at NQF Level 8)
⦁ At least 3 years of experience teaching in an educational institution (in Namibia or overseas)
⦁ Excellent planning and organizational skills
⦁ Strong, proven behavior management skills
⦁ Exceptional written and spoken English skills
⦁ Fluency in both written and spoken Afrikaans (additional languages would be an advantage)
⦁ Positive, can-do attitude and a good sense of humour
⦁ Preference will be given to applicants who have experience teaching Primary school age children, especially those with experience teaching children to read (for example with systematic synthetic phonics)
⦁ The ideal candidate will have experience teaching Afrikaans to children
⦁ Preference will be given to applicants who have experience in a school following the Cambridge International syllabus, or UK National Curriculum
⦁ Preference will be given to applicants who have experience in the educational development sector
⦁ Applicants must be Namibian citizens or have the right to permanently reside and work in Namibia

What you will do:
⦁ Take the lead on administrative tasks including, but not limited, to liaising with relevant ministries and institutions, school bookkeeping, registration, record-keeping and interactions with parents and guardians
⦁ Take on teaching responsibilities, delivering lessons to children between the ages of 6 and 11
⦁ Assist in all aspects of setting up a new international school, including the extra-curricular pro­gramme
