NOC ENGINEER

Witel Service Provider is looking for a dedicated, hardworking engineer to join their Network

Operations Centre Team. The NOC Engineer (L1) will be responsible for providing a managed support service to Witel’s customers to ensure that their network infrastructure remains operational

through proactively monitoring, identifying, investigating, troubleshooting and resolving incidents The NOC Engineer (LI) will focus on first-line support for all Incidents and service requests.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Experience of working on network equipment In an ISP environment, a large NOC or similar for 3 to 5 years

Basic understanding of the following technologies: IP Protocols (ICMP. UDP, TCP), IP filtering and firewalls. Routing Protocols (BGP, OSPF, ISIS), Quality of Service, MPLS, Ethernet (STP, RSTP, .1q VLANs, QinQ)

Good working knowledge of PTP / PTMP / L2TP Basic understanding of AAA platforms such as Radius and/or TACACS

Experience with Mikrotik, Fortigate, Cisco switches and routers for 3 to 5 years

Good understand, skillset and knowledge of  Linux/UNIX preferable (not essential)

KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensuring a stable and reliable network service
• Network monitoring
• Provide telephonic support
• Trouble ticket generation and response, carrier interface and escalations
• Deployment and maintenance of network management system
• Installation of network hardware and software
• Able to analyse and Investigate issues and conduct effective fault diagnosis and system recovery
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Must be able to work alone and capable of prioritising and managing workload using own initiative when required
• Must be able to work together in a team
• Must be able to meet deadlines and be punctual
• Passionate and Self-motivated
• Keen to contribute Ideas, share knowledge and help others develop
• Interested to learn and develop on Industry leading edge technologies

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• CCNP certified
• MikroTik Certified Network Associate – MTCNA
• Namibian citizen
• Valid Code B driver’s license
• Proficient in English (Additional languages will be advantageous)
• 5 year’s relevant work experience
