Vacant Position: AD HOC Assistant Pet Lodge Manager

Job Description:
The job comprises assisting the Windhoek Pet Lodge manager (owner) with all duties involved in the operations of the facility and taking full responsibility when the owner is off duty for the dogs that are boarded at Windhoek Pet Lodge.
The ideal candidate should be eager to learn and have the ability to listen carefully to instructions/advise given. The work is mostly outdoors. You have to be physically fit and able to work hard physically. The candidate must have a passion for dogs and at the same time be assertive enough to handle 20 or more dogs at a time. We expect the candidate to follow our successful business recipe. The candidate needs to be exceptionally responsible and thorough – this industry does not allow for any negligence or mistakes since a dead or injured dog is not replaceable! We deal with Livestock and to most owners their dogs are like their children.
Requirements:
- Relocation to Omeya Golf Estate or have transport. (The Pet lodge are located 30 minutes’ drive from Windhoek city centre).
- Experience in the dog industry will be an advantage however you must have at least grown up with dogs or be the current or past owner of dogs. Ability to observe, listen and learn quickly and eagerly, as well as a natural ability to handle, understand and love dogs is required.
- A keen interest to spend time with dogs, to keep them company and to observe their behaviour in order to learn to recognise potential problems between them and prevent them from destroying our assets.
- Ability to work independently
- The job is very physical and requires physical strength and fitness.
- Good customer and communication skills required.
- Duty days: Ad Hoc with possibility to become full time.
- Daily working hours: 06h30 – 13h00 and 15h30 – 18h00.
- This job entail working up to 3 weekends per month AND all holiday and public holidays.
- Namibian Citizens or Residence only.
Duties:
- Maintain cleanliness of the facility at all times by supervising staff undertaking cleaning tasks (including dealing with gross situations, i.e. excretion, diarrhoea, vomiting, etc.) Sometimes bath small dogs and brush big dogs.
- Stop a dog fight if one occurs.
- Taking phone calls, providing customer service, receiving dogs and returning dogs to their owners.
- Ensure dogs are fed, watered, exercised (walk the dogs), loved, grouped into safe groups and that their rooms are clean.
- Update customers via social media regarding their dogs daily activities and wellbeing.
- Assist with day to day administration.
Remuneration:
Based on number of dogs Less than 18: $600 per day, 19 – 30 $850 per day, 31 and more $1200 per day.
