I-TECH Namibia promotes activities that increase human capacity for providing HIV/AIDS clinical care and support through the development of health care worker training systems. I-TECH invites suitably qualified persons to apply for the following position:
Deputy Director-Clinical Services x1 (Khomas Region).
The Position:
The goal of this multi-faceted position is to support clinical HIV prevention, care and treatment activities contributing to achievement of I-TECH and MoHSS HIV-related goals at a high level. The position requires an experienced HIV-clinician with strong clinical, training, and quality-oriented skills.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Planning, coordinating and monitoring HIV Care and Treatment work to meet targets aimed at closing the gaps along the 95-95-95 HIV care cascade with the aim to contribute to the MoHSS goal of achieving control of the HIV epidemic in Namibia.
- Develop I-TECH Clinical Services strategic and annual plans and ensure that I-TECH supported activities conform to national guidelines and l-TECH’s technical strategies.
- Liaise with relevant MoHSS Facility, District and Regional Management as appropriate to ensure understanding and support for the clinical HIV-Prevention and other services.
- Assist in the coordination and implementation of quality improvement assessments such as SIMS (Site Improvement Monitoring System) and External Quality Assessments (assigned Regional I- TECH Care and Treatment facilities and associated post-assessment follow-up particularly.
- Take the lead in development of standard operating procedures, job aids and other clinical materials as necessary to improve l-TECH’s quality of care in all clinical aspects of care in particularly but not limited to l-TECH’s HIV Prevention programmes.
- Provide technical support to paediatrics/adolescents including mental health and eMTCT services.
- Content development, updating and revision of curricula.
- Collaborate with clinical services and other stakeholders to identify HIV prevention and other- related training needs in I-TECH supported sites.
- Provide direct patient care of Paediatric HIV patients as needed.
Required Education. Training & Experience:
- Qualification as a medical doctor and post graduate degree in, Paediatrics, HIV, Public Health or equivalent qualification relevant to public health.
- A proven interest, training and experience in managing children and adolescents with HIV including adolescent mental health.
- At least 5 years’ experience in the development of HIV-related training curricula and coordination and delivery of HIV-related training courses and post-training follow-up and certification.
- At least 4 years’ experience as a supervisor of health care workers.
- Current registration with the HPCNA as a Medical Practitioner.
- Able to travel up to 2 weeks per month to perform duties outside of Windhoek.
