Fruit & Vegetable Supervisor

Purpose of this role: To provide a supervisory role to manage the overall functioning of the fruit and veg area; with the focus on shrinkage and stock control, including staff supervision and compliance with quality and food and hygiene standards

Job specifications/responsibilities will include the following:

• To support Fruit & Veg Department by ensuring that the standards and procedures are maintained.
• Ensure display of products on daily basis in line with range, stock rotation and freshness
• Ensure that all Food and Health and Safety requirements are adhered to by applying daily practices
• Monitoring shrinkage and wastage, and ensuring that it is kept to a minimum.
• Maintaining a high level of customer service and satisfaction
• All staff must adhere to the Food and Safety requirements

– at all times, ensuring that all staff have received the necessary training and certification in this regard

• Ensure that buyers are given out of stock lists, over stock

lists and feedback on slow-moving or dead stock.

• When necessary, communicate directly with suppliers.
• Ensure that damaged stock is removed, recorded and taken to the damages department.
• Ensure that stock is handled carefully to prevent damages
• Ensure that all stock is merchandised according to the company requirements.
• Call on potential and existing commercial customers.
• Ensure that shelf edge ticketing and pricing are up to date and accurate.
• Ensure that stock is moved as smoothly as possible from Receiving to the shop floor.
• Know, understand and adhere to company rules and procedures at all times.
• Spot check goods received.
• Effectively manage shrinkage and stock levels in the store according to company processes and procedures as well as due attention to the safety standards incl. daily/weekly/ monthly stock counts

Preferably more than 1 year of related experience as a supervisor especially relating to fruit and vegetables Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent

Experience in store core operations in a similar environment or a related role

Excellent interpersonal skills and customer orientation

Computer literate in MS Office, MS Outlook

Analytical ability

Excellent attention to detail & planning and organizing skills Excellent verbal and written communication

Relevant driver’s license.

Ability to work without supervision
