Introduction
This position is responsible for training guides and potential guides in all aspects of guiding tourists in Wilderness Safaris Namibia’s areas of operation. This includes implementing course material, staying up to date with developments in the industry, presenting formal and informal courses and delivering on-the-job training in the camps. The incumbent will be responsible for training, monitoring and measuring the training and development presented, and ensure that it is in line with the strategy of the company. The role reports to Hospitality Support and works alongside camp management to meet training and operational goals.

Specification
•Set up annual training schedules for guide training
•Encourage ongoing personal development of guides
•Provide ongoing on-the-job training for guides
•Inductions and area-training sessions with guides in or at our lodges and camps
•Responsible for co-ordination and implementation of guide training, and monthly reporting thereon
•Develop and train guides in the maintenance and care of all guiding equipment, and how to maintain the look and feel to Wilderness Safaris

•Develop and maintain new guiding courses and training material while utilising available resources
•Work closely with each Camp General Manager to ensure the training of the guides, and provide support to ensure that standards are
upheld regarding the guest experience
•Mentor and lead all guides working for Wilderness Safaris (in Namibia) to ensure all are trained according to Wilderness Safaris Namibia
standards, to ensure maximum efficiency, productivity and to enhance the facilitated guest learning experience through guiding
•Deliver a meaningful and useful support service to the lodges, including training and recruitment of guides, alongside the Camp General
Manager
•Organise training trips, venues and materials to conduct courses related to the local guides’ qualifications
•Do regular skills assessments of guides in the camp, and evaluate the training needs of individual guides
•Conduct guided activities and tours on occasion
•Provide a support service to the camps for ordering equipment and guide tools and books
Requirements
•Namibian National Guiding Level 4 qualification or alternatively FGASA Level 2 or higher
•Minimum 5 years’ guiding experience (ideally 2 years or more national guiding experience)
•Should have guided and worked in various ecosystems in Namibia
•Should have a valid driver’s license with PDP
•Candidates with training experience would be preferred
•Candidate should have an extensive knowledge of Namibia and its ecosystems, geology, fauna, flora and people
•Candidate should have excellent hospitality skills
•Core responsibilities will be the training of local guides in our lodges and guiding guests on occasion
•Incumbent must be energetic and be able to work independently
