- Job Overview
The COO is mainly responsible for the management of the core business of the companies in the Lithon group (i.e. projects) and will work closely with the different business units and project teams in the various subsidiaries in different countries. The COO will also be responsible for marketing and securing of projects through either tendering or compiling proposals. Further to ensure effective project implementation and reducing of project risk to maximize profit for the business. The COO shall lead and coordinate the internal operational structure of the Company based on the strategy, policies, goals, and objectives to ensure an efficient working environment and that deadlines and targets are consistently met.
- Responsibilities and Duties
- Works closely with CEO and CFO of Lithon Holdings on EXCO level to drive the growth of the company and to optimize the operations and efficiency within the group
- Work closely with the CEOs of the subsidiaries, the Business Unit Leaders and other non-technical Business Units to tender for and implement projects effectively and efficiently within the group
- Act is interim CEO for subsidiaries which is still startup and in growth phases and to assist with recruitment of key executives to management subsidiaries, initially for South Africa, Ghana and Tanzania.
- Prepare monthly project and proposal dashboards (budgets, schedules, and other organisational reports) to EXCO on operations of all the companies in the group
- Optimize workloads throughout the group by ensuring proper resource planning in order to meet goals and deadlines of projects
- Compile and manage SLA s between subsidiaries for cross-border projects
- Develop and implement plans to increase efficiency and reduce costs of the group
- Ensures internal and external customer requirements (quality, budget, time) are met
- Identifies improvement areas and plans and implements systems to boost productivity in the operational Business Units of the group
- Ensure coaching, mentoring and training of all operational employees in order to create a motivated and competent work force (future)
- Monitor, identify and select potential opportunities to either tender for or submit unsolicited bids
- Compile tenders, proposals or quotations for projects
- Project management of selected flagship projects
- Provide technical support to Business Units where and when required through SLAs with subsidiaries
- Conducting sales meetings and build strong relationships with existing and potential clients
- Marketing and promotion of the company
- Promote and inspire the company values and culture
- Educational:
- Civil engineering degree
- Project management degree
- PPP certificate
- Experience
- Practicing as a civil engineer
- Management experience in a private consultancy firm
- Management and leadership skills with the necessary training or qualifications
- Project management experience
- Extensive experience in leading and working with multi-disciplinary professional teams.
- 10-15 years’ experience
