Position: Social Services Consultant (Ondangwa Regional Office) Department: Operations
Reports to: Manager Support Services
Purpose of the Position:
- To develop and improve a social work support and problem-solving environment and to manage social conflicts and issues arising from the pension fund environment in a diverse cultural and social context.
Key Performance Areas:
- Tie in with Marketing and Public relations efforts/prQgrams.
- Develop a network of social work cooperation.
- Enable pensioners/beneficiaries to use social welfare support structures available from the GIPF and social structures.
- Develop and maintain a social service environment to effectively deal with client issues.
- Develop social services plans and manage regional budget
- Establish internal social support system
- Build and maintain networks with relevant stakeholders
- Perform social investigations in order to provide social circumstances advice, support and guidance.
- Provide pre and post counselling services for pensioners
- Provide tracing services for dependents and beneficiaries.
- Improve social services efficiency and effectiveness.
- Innovation and personal development.
Job-related qualificationsand experience:
- 4-years degree in BA-Social work
- 3 years’ working experience as Social Worker.
- Code 8 driver’s licence
- Registered with the Social work and Psychology Council of Namibia.
- Knowledge of:
Counselling techniques, cultural diversity, indigenous language, life skills and effectiveness principles, pension fund rules and regulations, psychology of old age. social work theory, research and programs, statistical analysis, financial management and budgeting, strategic planning and client wellness.
- Skills:
Computer literacy, customer services, verbal and written communication, interpersonal skills, networking, problem solving, time management and decision making.
- Personal Attributes:
Approachable, friendly, helpful, assertiveness, high stress tolerance, emotionally mature, confidentiality, integrity, honest, cultural sensitivity, service oriented and patient.
