Position: Analyst Private Equity
Department: Investments
Reports to: Manager: Alternative Investments
Purpose of the Position:
This designation is an integral member of the team responsible for monitoring the capital committed to Private Equity, globally, including Venture Capital. To assist in the analysis and monitoring of underlying portfolio companies.
Key Performance Areas:
- Review, analyze & report on the quarterly reports and annual financial statements of the various PE funds.
- Monitoring and assessing the portfolio of existing investments to determine compliance with the terms of the limited partnership Agreements and other contracts,
- Analyze and validate valuations of capital call notices.
- Fund Manager selection and operational due diligence
- Reviewing assumptions in financial models and performing technical analysts:
- Preparing and presenting decision-making documents for internal credit committee..
Job-related qualifications and experience:
- Commerce/Finance/Economics
- 4 years’ experience in a fundXasset management environment with at least 2 years’ experience in private equity
- Certification in financial modelling and financial statement analysts.
- Coursework/training in private equity. CAIA. CFA. FMVA is advantageous.
The incumbent should have the following knowledge, skills and Attributes:
- Knowledge of:
Investment instruments available, understanding of IPEV Valuation guidlelnes. GIPF mandate, regulations 13 of pension funds act. Institutional limited partners association (ILPA) principles, private equity industry, national development plans and financial statement analysis.
- Skill:
Analytical, interpersonal, networking, report writing, presentation skills, excel: financial modelling, negotiation skills.
- Personal Attributes:
Details conscious, calm disposition, conceptual, discreet, integrity, emotional and inter-cultural intelligence, work under pressure, independent thinker, service oriented, professtonal/excepttonal business ethics, lateral thinking, performance driven and results oriented.
